The tone of the game tries to go for bladerunner but. Somehow after everything and some time, Rania is "still new' to the job how the hell are you still new at the job? You move a car around and some packages. And sometimes that dog requires "encouraging" to get on the platform, making on foot mode a little extra tedious than it already was.Įxpansion is actually a real slog and the lecturing still goes on. This is why I can tell its the writers self insert.ĭog is even worse in the expansion, when you have to go on foot (also a weak element of the game) the dog follows you and you'll have to wait for it to get on lift platforms before it moves. It's also got a streak of hypocrisy that loves to talk about love and tolerance and acceptance, but will happily hope for a quest person that did no harm to them to fall into the ocean. Its creepy and feels like its the writers self-insert that loves to dispense "wisdom" but then asked to elaborate it retreats to "I'm just a dog." Yeah, okay, shut up then. Like, I get, haha funny robot dog thats self aware but not really. Why bother buying upgrades at the apartment if you never need to go in and sleep or have some sort of passage of time? I'm not sure why everything felt like the story had to be rushed through this one night, one shift. In fact, my joys came from making a decision where both her and the dog do not like and felt miserable for that choice. Really annoying character that you can’t immerse in if you’re looking for the Bladerunner vibe. So if she isn’t a whiny white girl progressive she’ll be a karen too. That could be just a survival tactic but the player is never in any real danger plus, if she isn’t giving her opinion, she’s lecturing an npc on their dubious morals like selling drugs and consumption of drugs (very anti-anarchist btw) despite the fact I’ve had Rania literally deliver bombs. She'll happily suspend her political and moral principles if the situation suits her. Some side quests really did feel like the end result was to just get such a stupid opinion and feels like a bigger time waster than a video game should. She'll happily give her vapid opinion from 'gender norms' to criticizing video game tropes (I guess the writer is a fan of a certain grifter) and that would be it.

I was told my choices would have impact in other peoples lives, maybe they did, but ultimately inconsequential and Rania doesn't seem to care either. Probably because the world and the quests or "choices" you make are hardly believable. While the writer tries to insert their reddit political opinions in quests, they're hardly believable. She self claims to be a "neo anarchist anti-capitalist activist" Which makes very little sense when you try to think about (especially when she displays none of the traits), but maybe she was just being glib with the controller. Rania is overtly progressive and politically naïve. The weakest parts of this game is the writer and the tone of the game though.Īs another review mentioned, yeah, there are some SJW elements with the main character, who is not really likable. Explore the city as much as you can and discover hidden items as well as additional stories.Fun game, did a good job capturing the blade runner aesthetic if bladerunner was in some weird pixelated nft universe. There will be a diverse range of characters to meet, all going about their daily lives.Įach decision you make will have a long-lasting impact on the citizens of Nivalis. As you go about your job you will discover corporate conspiracies, rogue AI and hackers. You can choose to explore the cyberpunk city through your hovercar or though foot.
